ALPINE SKI LEADER (ASL) COURSES
2009/2010

The Alpine Ski Leader qualification is widely
recognised by LAs in Scotland as the most
appropriate award for skiers taking sole
charge of groups in the mountain environment.
The award covers a range of responsibilities
including planning, organising, supervising,
leading and teaching. The ASL award is
valid in the mountains and also on dry slopes
and indoor snow slopes. The three key
elements are:

* Leadership
* Technical skiing
* Teaching

Please note that you will need to make your own arrangements to get to Geneva airport for
collection. Pick-up timings to be confirmed, but please aim to arrive as close to midday as
possible. When booking your return flights, please be aware that the course may not be
completed until 18.00 hrs on the last day. If necessary, we can arrange an extra night's accommodation for £30.

nb : Registration fees with Snowsport Scotland are payable directly and can be done post-
course (current cost is £37.50 if paying by direct debit or £40 if paying by cheque or credit
card)

Course is subject to viable numbers of candidates. A maximum of 10 places are available.
Accommodation is based on twin (sometimes triple, depending on group composition)
occupancy. The course will be run by Drew Michie.

nb : Attendance of a one-day Refresher course is required once every three years.

PRE-REQUISITES:

* Participants must be at least 18 years of age
* They must be able to ski basic parallel on groomed red slopes (showing good posture), use
    carving skis and have at least 20 days on-snow experience (click for footage of appropriate
    entry standard)
* Understand all levels of the UK awards and be able to perform many of the activities up to
    Level 7 (please refer to www.snowsportscotland.org for further details)
* Register with Snowsport Scotland, preferably before the course
* Before the full award is issued, a First Aid certificate (minimum 2 day and HSE approved)
    must be sent to Snowsport Scotland

IN ADDITION, as part of our promotional effort, Interski can help as follows:

* If your school has never travelled with Interski and subsequently books a group,
   for the first time with Interski in 2009/2010 , we will refund £250 against
   your first trip. Should you then book for the following season (ie, two consecutive seasons),
   a further £250 will be refunded against the second trip. All of the above assumes successful
   completion of the course and a minimum of 20 full paying passengers per trip. On your 3rd
   consecutive trip, you will be entitled to Interski plus! status and the many benefits this
   special status brings.

* Interski plus! clients will receive a £250 discount on the cost of an ASL course
