5 Star - Snowboarding
SKILLS
* Good posture and balance
* Good range of movements which can
be applied to a variety of turns
* Control of skills at higher speeds,
steeper slopes and variable terrain
* Full descent of red/black piste using short and long radius skidded turns where
terrain suitable
* Perform a minimum of 6 carved turns on suitable red run
* Negotiate green/blue piste riding fakie (competently)
* Controlled descent of bump and/or steep run
* Introduction to race techniques (slalom/giant slalom)
* Take over group leadership. Using skills, lead, choose the best speed/line and
stop/rest/start areas taking into account the group's ability and other slope users
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
* Demonstrate a variety of freestyle moves on the snow
* Demonstrate a variety of jumps (include a 180 degrees)
* Ability to ride a variety of terrain in all conditions, maintaining constant speed and
rhythm, whilst using the full range of movements available to you
The Interski 5 Star Award is equivalent to an 8 or 9 star on the Snowlife Snowsport
