Among the conifer woods of the Petit St-Bernard valley, you will find La Thuile (1441 m).
It belonged to the Savoy family in the Middle Ages and was the Roman Ariolica, a stop on
the road to Gaul. The parish church, with a beautiful bell-tower, is dedicated to San Nicola.
There are no castles, only barracks built by the Savoys due to its strategic position.

The village is situated in a large basin dominated by the Ruitor glacier, an ideal place for
practising ski-mountaineering. The town offers considerable attractions in all seasons. In
winter, thanks to its international skiing link with La Rosière (France), La Thuile has 150
km of pistes, modern, efficient lift systems and some cross-country circuits. In summer,
it is an ideal resort for lovers of mountain-walking.
