MICHAEL BATES

The Interski/Snowsport Scotland Snowboard
Leader course will be tutored by Michael Bates.
Michael has been teaching snowboarding for 15
years and tutoring instructor and leader courses
for ten years. He holds the BASI Snowboard
Teacher ISIA award, the highest level British
snowboard qualification.

He has ridden and taught in many parts of the
world over the years, but is now based in
Meribel, France in the winter (where he is one of
the small group of British snowboarders who
have met the exacting standards of the French
authorities to be able to work there). During the
summer, he works on the dry slope in Edinburgh.

Michael is also a former British champion snowboard racer and has represented Great Britain
at World Cup Level. He was the number one British rider for six years and reached 77th in the
world rankings.
